Jacksonville, Fla. (December 10, 2008) – The Radisson Hotel Jacksonville Butler Boulevard has always been an environmentally friendly hotel that conserves natural resources. That commitment to the environment has now been formally recognized, as the hotel became a designated member of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Green Lodging Program. To become a designated member of the Florida Green Lodging Program, hotels must implement a variety of green practices. At the Radisson Hotel Jacksonville Butler Boulevard, these practices include water conservation, a linen reuse program, high-energy efficient lighting, and programmable thermostats. The hotel also reduces waste by providing the opportunity to recycle, purchasing items in bulk, purchasing post consumer recycled materials, and by recycling ink and toner cartridges. In addition, the hotel uses green cleaners and high efficiency air filters. “This designation is the result of an ongoing conservation commitment from all of our associates and the hotel’s owners,” said Keith Dunker, general manager of the Radisson Hotel Jacksonville Butler Boulevard, a joint venture of AMC Delancey Group, Inc. and The Paramount Hotel Group. “It’s an honor to receive our One Palm designation and our goal is to carry that commitment to the Three Palm level over the next couple years. We’re thrilled by this challenge and will work collectively to make it a reality.” Launched in 2004, the Florida Green Lodging Program (www.dep.state.fl.us/greenlodging) establishes environmental guidelines for hotels and motels to conserve natural resources and prevent pollution. There are three levels of designation, including One Palm, which designates that a hotel/motel must have completed the core green lodging activities; Two Palm for maintaining One Palm status for at least 12 consecutive months; and Three Palm for maintaining Two Palm designation and demonstrating continual improvement for three consecutive years. Recipient of the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Radisson Hotels & Resorts President’s Award, the Radisson Hotel Jacksonville Butler Boulevard is a signature 167-room hotel offering a first-class experience for its guests as well as state-of-the-art conference facilities for corporate meetings and events. Located in the Southpoint Corporate Park, the 100 percent smoke-free hotel offers complimentary shuttle transportation to local businesses, comfortable accommodations and an array of in-room amenities and guest services, including Butler’s Restaurant and Lounge, which offers full-course menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition, the hotel owners recently added LG 32-inch, flat panel, high definition LCD televisions, equipped with wired and wireless Internet, and web TV, to all 167 guestrooms, as well as added several large, flat panel LCD televisions to public spaces throughout the hotel. Taking their service commitment one step further, the owners also equipped the entire hotel with high definition feeds to ensure that hotel guests and visitors receive the best possible picture on every television. Located off I-95 at J. Turner Butler Boulevard, the hotel is situated within a bustling commercial district south of downtown Jacksonville and is just 11 miles from Jacksonville Municipal Sports Arena, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and only minutes from large corporations and area attractions and beaches.
